No, you don't need to install Oracle Client or any plug-in to run the software.

What if we do not have an application server?
We can provide iDbmanager with freeware Tomcat server.

Do I have to create any database user to install?
No, you do not have to create any database user or run any installation database script.

Will it run on any platform?
Yes, it is developed using java technology, so it is platform independent.

Is performance slow, because it is over the web?
iDbmanager was designed specifically for high performance access using a web-browser. iDbmanager utilizes advanced caching and coding techniques to avoid redundant requests from the database. iDbmanager also facilitates the downloading of information for offline analysis of the database information.

How secure is DBAConnect?
iDbmanager is as secure as your current applications. iDbmanager works with your current security measures such as Secure Socket Layer and firewalls. It is developed using servlets and because the servlet is executing on the server, the security issues usually associated with applets do not apply. Also the web browser does not communicate directly with a servlet; the servlet is loaded and executed by the application server. This means that if your application server is secure behind a firewall, then your servlet is secure as well.

How difficult it is to install?
It is very easy to install. The complete installation process takes less than 10 minutes. For initial evaluation purposes we recommend that this be installed using the free Tomcat server that is included.
